F2: Superb Leon claims lights-to-flag victory in Monte Carlo Sprint Race

Noel Leon achieved the second victory of his FIA Formula 2 rookie campaign with a lights-to-flag win in Saturday's Monte Carlo Sprint Race.

Lining up on pole, the Campos Racing driver made an excellent start to stay ahead of fellow front row starter Roman Bilinski.

Leon then fought off all challenges from Bilinski and managed his tyres expertly to win his second Sprint Race in as many rounds – following his victory in Montreal.

DAMS Lucas Oil’s Bilinski achieved his maiden Formula 2 podium in second, holding off Alpine Academy member and current championship leader Gabriele Minì across the line.

Invicta Racing driver Joshua Duerksen finished in fourth ahead of the next DAMS driver Dino Beganovic, with Martinius Stenshorne in P6 for Rodin Motorsport.

ART Grand Prix driver Kush Maini finished in seventh, while Invicta’s Rafael Câmara rounded out the points in eighth.

The Scuderia Driver Academy member is set to start from pole in the Feature Race, where he will be joined on the front row by Campos Racing’s Red Bull junior Nikola Tsolov.
