Liam Lawson went into this F1 season knowing his job was to spend hour upon hour in the simulator, and be on standby in case any of the Red Bull or AlphaTauri drivers were unable to race. And in Zandvoort he was called up to make his Formula 1 debut at very short notice after Daniel Ricciardo injured his hand in a Friday practice crash.
