Gearbox penalty drops Grosjean five grid places
Romain Grosjean has dropped from 15th to 20th on the starting grid for Sunday’s 2016 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix after an unscheduled gearbox on his Haas.
The American team opted to change the box following damage to Grosjean’s car incurred when he crashed out of the second phase of qualifying on Saturday.
Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel also has penalties totalling 25 places - for a new gearbox, engine and associated elements - but these do not affect his grid position, after the four-time Singapore winner qualified last following a suspension issue in Q1.
