Bahrain hosted the opening race of the year last season, and it saw contrasting fortunes for the Red Bull drivers under the lights in qualifying.

Sergio Perez was making his bow for the team after joining them in the off-season, but he couldn’t make Q3 on debut. He fell an agonising 0.035s short of the top 10, but his team mate made Q3 comfortably…

Once there, Max Verstappen went on to claim pole, his first in Sakhir. He finished the best part of four tenths of a second clear of Lewis Hamilton in an impressive display.
