The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is well known to all the drivers, both from previous races here, testing and often their junior days. But don’t for a second think they can drive this track in their sleep; nailing the short lap here still requires a huge amount of skill and attention to detail.
Last year, McLaren saw both their drivers make Q3 in qualifying, but it was the experience of Daniel Ricciardo that told, as the Australian pipped Red Bull driver Sergio Perez to seventh on the grid, also beating his team mate Lando Norris – who wound up ninth - by nearly four tenths of a second.
