Haas’s Esteban Gutierrez has been given a five-place grid penalty after Spa stewards found him guilty of blocking another driver during Saturday’s final practice session for the 2016 Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix.
Manor’s Pascal Wehrlein came upon the slow-moving Gutierrez, on the racing line at Turn 4, early in the hour and was forced to run over the grass as he passed the Mexican driver. Gutierrez was also given three penalty points for the infringement.
The stewards also investigated another alleged impeding incident in which Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel felt he was baulked by Renault’s Kevin Magnussen, but no further action was deemed necessary.
