HIGHLIGHTS: All the action from the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix

We knew the all-new 2022 regulations could throw up some surprises in the season's opening round, and the Bahrain Grand Prix in Sakhir certainly didn't disappoint.

Max Verstappen pushed Ferrari all the way, only for Red Bull to end their day with a bruising double-DNF, as Charles Leclerc led the Scuderia to their first 1-2 since 2019.

Red Bull's loss was Mercedes' gain, as Lewis Hamilton gratefully accepted an unexpected podium and new team mate George Russell followed him home in fourth.

And it was a triumphant return for Kevin Magnussen who took Haas to P5, while Alfa Romeo got both cars in the points, with newcomer Zhou Guanyu scoring on his F1 debut.
