Max Verstappen claimed an assured victory in the third F1 Sprint of the season in Austria, having fended off an early challenge from the McLaren pair of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
After an aborted start resulted in a second formation lap, Verstappen made a strong launch from pole position as the Sprint got under way, while a fight played out behind him between Norris and Piastri.

Within a few laps Norris had overtaken Verstappen, before a thrilling moment unfolded as the Red Bull driver managed to retake the lead and Piastri also took the opportunity to get ahead of his McLaren team mate.
From there, Verstappen stretched out the gap in front to take the win, while Piastri resisted pressure from Norris for P2. George Russell was the lead Mercedes in fourth, ahead of Carlos Sainz in fifth for Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton adding to the Silver Arrows’ points in sixth.
