George Russell carried on his good run of form and set the pace in the opening practice session for the Austrian Grand Prix
George Russell set the pace in the opening practice session for the Austrian Grand Prix, the Mercedes driver less than one-tenth ahead of Max Verstappen.
Russell, who won last time out in Canada, posted a 1m 05.542s on Pirelli's soft tyre at the Red Bull Ring, which left him 0.065s clear of Red Bull's Verstappen after the one-hour session.
Championship leader Oscar Piastri was third, while F2 championship leader Alex Dunne finished the session fourth, less than a tenth behind the lead McLaren, as he took the seat of Lando Norris during the session.
