Lando Norris mastered the treacherous conditions to take pole position at the Las Vegas Grand Prix from Max Verstappen.

Norris maintained his championship charge with a stunning last gasp effort to go 0.323s faster than Verstappen, creating the margin despite suffering a significant snap of oversteer at Turn 14.

Carlos Sainz was third fastest for Williams, bringing some good news to the team after Alex Albon crashed in Q1.

Lewis Hamilton was unable to repeat some of his former heroics in the wet, and was slowest of the 20 drivers.
