Lewis Hamilton will start from the front of the grid for the first time as a Ferrari driver after topping Sprint Qualifying at the Chinese Grand Prix.
Hamilton suffered a disappointing opening weekend for Ferrari in Australia, finishing ninth, but bounced back to secure an unexpected pole position for Saturday's Sprint.
He will be joined by Max Verstappen on the front row, with the reigning World Champion similarly posting a stunning effort that was just 0.018s behind the Ferrari driver. In the sister Red Bull however, Liam Lawson's torrid start to the season continued as he set the slowest time in SQ1.
It was also a scruffy session for favourites McLaren, with Oscar Piastri third and Lando Norris sixth.
