HIGHLIGHTS: Relive FP1 from Saudi Arabia as Gasly claims impressive top spot
Pierre Gasly surprised the Formula 1 grid by claiming top spot in Free Practice 1 for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix with a scintillating lap that left him 0.007s clear of Lando Norris.
The Alpine driver, who scored his and the team’s first points of the season last time out in Bahrain, went fastest on a 1m 29.239s with just over 20 minutes to go at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit on the soft tyre.

Drivers’ Championship leader Norris bounced back from a disappointing weekend in Bahrain with P2, as McLaren team mate Oscar Piastri finished fourth and just one-tenth off top spot.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc split the McLaren pair in third, as the Williams of Alex Albon and Mercedes of George Russell completed the top six.
Reigning World Champion Max Verstappen endured another difficult session and could only manage ninth, while all 20 drivers just managed to avoid the walls during the one-hour session at the high-speed circuit.
