HIGHLIGHTS: Relive the action as Alonso heads Russell in floodlit Saudi Arabian FP2
The floodlights came on and the engine modes were turned up for Free Practice 2 at the spectacular Jeddah Corniche Circuit, with Fernando Alonso heading the evening’s action for Aston Martin ahead of the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Two-time champion Alonso overcame a tight on-track traffic moment with the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc to top his first session of the year, with a lap time of 1m 28.827s in his Aston Martin AMR24.
FP2: Alonso fastest during second practice in Saudi Arabia ahead of Russell and Verstappen
That was two-tenths clear of closest rival, Mercedes driver George Russell, as Bahrain Grand Prix winner Max Verstappen slotted into third.
Russell’s team mate Lewis Hamilton took P8, but was due to see the stewards post-session, after Williams driver Logan Sargeant was forced to take evasive action after catching Hamilton’s Mercedes going slowly on the racing line.
To see that moment and more, tune into the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix FP2 highlights in the video above.
