HIGHLIGHTS: Relive the action from Austin Sprint Qualifying as Verstappen claims pole while Piastri suffers shock early exit
Max Verstappen returned to his status as the driver to beat as he claimed pole position for Saturday’s Sprint around the Circuit of The Americas, whilst his championship rival Lando Norris settled for P4.
The Dutchman narrowly beat George Russell to first place as he set a rapid lap time of 1m 32.833s with his final attempt of the session, while Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc slotted into P3 ahead of Norris.
The biggest shock came in the form of McLaren’s Oscar Piastri enduring a bombshell exit in SQ1 after his second timed lap was deleted for track limits, leaving him starting tomorrow’s 19-lap Sprint towards the back of the grid.
