Max Verstappen took his sixth win of the season in commanding fashion at the Canadian Grand Prix. The Dutch racer claimed his second consecutive victory – and the 100th win for Red Bull in Formula 1 – in Montreal ahead of rivals Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton.
Starting on pole, Verstappen made a quick getaway to keep hold of the lead and did not look backwards, where Hamilton had jumped Alonso for second on the run down to Turn 1, with the Spaniard also coming under pressure from George Russell.

Alonso eventually passed Hamilton for second, although the Mercedes driver did his best to close the gap in the final stages, but was ultimately forced to settle for third.
Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz finished in a solid fourth and fifth, respectively, with Sergio Perez rounding out the top six. Alex Albon held off the challenge of Esteban Ocon to finish seventh, with the Alpine racer taking P8.
There were no red flags in the race, but the Safety Car was needed on its 50th anniversary in Formula 1, after Russell collided with the barrier at the exit of Turn 9, and while he soldiered on, he was eventually forced to retire his Mercedes.
