A bright and warm first day of practice for the Australian Grand Prix ended with Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc leading the way from Red Bull rival Max Verstappen.
Leclerc’s benchmark FP2 time of 1m 17.277s put him 0.381s up on Verstappen as the chequered flag dropped, with Carlos Sainz slotting into third in the sister Ferrari and the Aston Martins rounding out the top five.

It was another busy session as drivers explored the limits of Melbourne’s streets, leading to pace-setter Leclerc and a host of others running off the track or going for spins.
There was also drama before the action had even started with news that Alex Albon would not be completing any laps after his FP1 crash and Williams confirming they do not have a spare chassis this weekend.
