Charles Leclerc continued his Friday form into Saturday’s running around the streets of Monte Carlo as he set the standard during final practice at his home venue, outpacing Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton for the FP3 top spot.
After his pace-setting efforts in second practice, Leclerc continued where he left off to clock a time of 1m 11.369s, putting the Ferrari driver a couple of tenths clear of Verstappen, who showed some more speed at the wheel of his Red Bull.
As drivers started to push the limits, it was no surprise that incidents followed, with Valtteri Bottas adding to team mate Zhou Guanyu’s brush with the wall yesterday by taking his own trip to the barriers at the exit of Piscine.
There was also a glimpse of what’s to come in qualifying, with Verstappen, Kevin Magnussen and Sergio Perez all expressing their frustration at being baulked by rivals while trying to post lap times on the soft tyres.
