Max Verstappen resumed his winning form by taking victory in the Japanese Grand Prix, marking his third race win of 2024 after his retirement last time out in Australia disrupted the streak, while team mate Sergio Perez made it a one-two result for Red Bull.
There was an eventful start to the race when contact between Alex Albon and Daniel Ricciardo caused both cars to crash into the barriers. Fortunately both drivers were okay, but the incident brought out the red flags while track repairs were carried out.

After a brief pause before the event was resumed, Verstappen repeated his solid launch at the restart and from there put in another assured performance on his way to P1. Perez followed in P2, while Carlos Sainz overtook Ferrari team mate Charles Leclerc in the latter stages for the final podium position.
Leclerc had to settle for fourth, despite making a one-stop strategy work well during the race, while Lando Norris was the lead McLaren in fifth.
Fernando Alonso held P6 in the Aston Martin, as George Russell and Oscar Piastri engaged in a late-race battle behind him before crossing the line in seventh and eighth respectively. Lewis Hamilton ended the day in ninth, and tenth-placed Yuki Tsunoda scored a point in front of his home crowd.
