Horner pledges ‘100% commitment’ to Red Bull amid rumours of Ferrari approach for team boss role

Christian Horner has brushed aside rumours of Ferrari contacting him about potentially becoming their team boss in the future, stressing that he is “100% committed” to Red Bull Racing.

Horner has led Red Bull’s Formula 1 team since their arrival on the grid back in 2005, playing a central role in more than 100 Grand Prix wins, six Teams’ Championships and eight Drivers’ Championships over the years.

Heading into the Spanish Grand Prix weekend, Horner was asked about media reports of an approach from Ferrari, whether those were true and if it was ever something he would consider during his career in the sport.

“Look, I mean, of course, it’s always flattering to be associated with other teams, but my commitment, 100%, is with Red Bull – it always has been and certainly will be for the long-term,” he commented.

“There’s a bunch of speculation, always in this business, people coming here, going there, whatever. I think people in the team know exactly what the situation is.”

Horner was speaking in Friday’s Team Principals’ press conference at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where he was joined by Alpine chief Flavio Briatore and Pirelli boss Mario Isola.

“I mean, my Italian is worse than Flavio’s English, so how on earth would that work?” Horner signed off with a smile.

Ferrari have been fronted by Fred Vasseur since the beginning of 2023, with the Frenchman guiding the famous Italian team to third in the Teams’ standings in his first season and the runner-up spot behind champions McLaren last year.
