Logan Sargeant confirmed as Ford WEC Hypercar driver in 2027
Former Williams F1 driver Logan Sargeant is set to compete for Ford in the World Endurance Championship’s 2027 Hypercar class.

Former F1 driver Logan Sargeant has been confirmed to race for Ford in the World Endurance Championship’s Hypercar class in 2027, with the news announced nearly 18 months after the American’s exit from the Williams team.
Sargeant – who competed in 36 Grands Prix between 2023 and 2024 – will partner with Mike Rockenfeller and Sebastian Priaulx as part of the line-up when Ford make their return to endurance racing.
The 25-year-old previously participated in WEC’s Bahrain rookie test in November, while he also made appearances in the IMSA SportsCar Championship LMP2 class last year.
Dan Sayers, Ford Racing Hypercar Programme Manager, said of Sargeant’s skills: “Logan brings a level of technical sophistication and high-downforce experience that is vital for a programme of this scale.
“Having an American back in a Ford at Le Mans feels right. It’s a nod to giants like Dan Gurney and AJ Foyt, who showed the world in 1967 what happens when American grit meets global ambition.”
It marks the next step in Sargeant’s career following his F1 stint for Williams, which saw him arrive on the grid at the start of the 2023 campaign and score one point during that season.
After doing enough to earn himself a place at the team into 2024, the driver from Florida came under increasing pressure as the year progressed and was ultimately replaced by Franco Colapinto for the final nine rounds.
Despite this, Williams boss James Vowles backed Sargeant to succeed in different categories, having stated his belief that the American “absolutely has the capability to be champion in many other series”.
News of Sargeant’s venture with Ford came as part of an event in Detroit on Thursday, where the manufacturer also joined Red Bull and Racing Bulls to unveil both teams’ 2026 F1 liveries ahead of Red Bull Ford Powertrains’ maiden campaign as a power unit manufacturer.
