Max and Jos Verstappen to join forces for Zandvoort demo

Toro Rosso's Max Verstappen will join forces with father Jos for a special series of demonstration runs in Formula One machinery at former Dutch Grand Prix venue Zandvoort this weekend.

The event will represent the first time Max has driven an F1 car on home soil, and will also be one of the very few occasions in history when a father and son have driven F1 machinery at the same time.

Max Verstappen became only the 12th son of a former driver to compete in F1 this year, following in the footsteps of the likes of David Brabham, Damon Hill and Nico Rosberg.

The 17-year-old, who won the Formula 3 Masters at Zandvoort last year, will drive a Red Bull RB8 in the livery of current team Toro Rosso, while Jos will pilot a Minardi PS03 - the car he drove in what proved to be his final Grand Prix season in 2003.

Former F1 driver Jan Lammers and two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Arie Luyendyk will also take to the track in a Coloni C3 and C4 respectively. Both cars, like Jos's Minardi, will be in their original liveries.

While the event, dubbed ‘Italia a Zandvoort', takes place on Sunday, all four men will also attend a special meet and greet in the centre of the Dutch town on Saturday evening.

"Doing a demo and a show in a Formula One car is always great fun, all the more so if it is for your home crowd," Verstappen told his official website. "Italia a Zandvoort is a great event and I really hope to give all the fans some great fun."
