MUST-SEE: Huge drama in Austria as Verstappen and Norris collide while fighting for the lead
Share
Sunday’s Austrian Grand Prix came to life in the closing stages when Max Verstappen and Lando Norris battled it out for victory and then dramatically collided – sending the latter out of the race.
Verstappen led the early stages from pole position but was reeled in by Norris after a slow final pit stop, with the McLaren man making several attempts to pass his Red Bull rival and grab the P1 spot.
After several near-misses, and some frustration from both drivers over the radio at their respective tactics, Norris’s lunge up the inside of Verstappen at Turn 3 on Lap 64 of 71 ended in contact.
Both drivers sustained damage and punctures, with Norris forced into retirement and Verstappen managing to salvage fifth, leaving George Russell to pick up the pieces in his Mercedes and take a surprise win.
