Ferrari’s 2014 Formula One car will be designated the F14 T, the team announced on Friday, after fans selected the name in an online vote.
A total of 1,123,741 people from all over the world took part in the poll on the Scuderia’s website, with F14 T receiving just 1.7 percent more votes than F166 Turbo. Other names that were rejected included F14 Maranello, F14 Scuderia and F616.
“It’s nice to know the name of the car has been chosen by our fans,” commented team principal Stefano Domenicali. “The amazing number of votes shows just how popular Ferrari has always been and this will be, as always, a further impetus for us to do well this year!”
Ferrari, who will field an all-world champion line-up of Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen in 2014, will unveil their new machine on Saturday at 1430 CET, three days before pre-season testing begins in Jerez, Spain.
