OFFICIAL GRID: Who starts where in Italy as Antonelli, Piastri, Lawson, Albon and Alonso take penalties

Pierre Gasly will lead the field away in Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix, with the Alpine driver claiming a shock pole position over Mercedes rival George Russell at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza.

Oscar Piastri had been set to start third for McLaren, but he drops to sixth – behind the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, and the Red Bull of Max Verstappen – due to a penalty for impeding Liam Lawson in Q2.

Franco Colapinto lines up seventh in his Alpine, with McLaren’s Lando Norris, Racing Bulls’ Arvid Lindblad and Audi’s Gabriel Bortoleto completing the top-10 places on the grid.

Meanwhile, home racer Kimi Antonelli and Williams’ Alex Albon are serving back-of-the-grid penalties – all for power unit changes that exceeded the allowances on their respective cars.

The aforementioned Lawson, who himself had been set to start from the back, will now start from the pit lane after Red Bull changed his rear wing and suspension set-up under parc ferme conditions.

Fernando Alonso will also now start from the pit lane following power unit elements being changed on his Aston Martin in parc ferme overnight.
