PIRELLI STRATEGY GUIDE: What are the tactical options for the drivers in the Austrian Grand Prix?

Good things come in small packages, and the Red Bull Ring is a pocket-sized gem of a racing circuit, packing a lot of punch into its seven (real) corner layout, with elevation changes, cambers and track warp. It’s also a track of two-halves, with three DRS straights in the first offering plenty of overtaking opportunity, and the sequence of high-speed corners in the second pushing the tyres to the limit.
It makes this a race where teams will target the fastest way to the flag, rather than worrying too much about track position, but also one where being on the right tyre at the right time may prove vital. One week on from a tight Spanish Grand Prix, Saturday’s Sprint race appetiser suggests we’re in for another battle royale.
