Raikkonen sure he can overcome 2014 struggles

Kimi Raikkonen is confident he can get on top of his current struggles and turn his 2014 campaign with Ferrari around.

The Finn has not finished higher than seventh in the opening nine races of the season, and is yet to come home ahead of team mate Fernando Alonso. While the Spaniard sits fourth in the championship, on 87 points, Raikkonen is 12th overall, 68 points in arrears.

Raikkonen's woes continued last time out in Great Britain as he crashed heavily on the opening lap, which also ruled him out of driving during the two-day Silverstone test which followed the Grand Prix. Despite the setback Raikkonen remains upbeat however, insisting he can overcome his problems with the F14 T.

"I believe the situation will turn around at some point, as it can't go on much longer like this," he said.

"It's true it's no fun, but we have been in this situation before and always managed to turn it around. I strongly believe we can fix the issues and be back where we should be.

"How soon? I hope quickly but I am not worried about my future."

Raikkonen also insisted he is no longer in any pain following his Silverstone collision - the impact of which was measured at 47G - and said he has no concerns about his fitness ahead of this weekend's Formula 1 Grosser Preis Santander von Deutschland 2014.

"I had some pain afterwards, not so much in my leg, but more in my ribs," he explained. "That was why I did not drive in the (Silverstone) test, but it's all fine now.

"It hurt, but sometimes it's the really slow accidents when you can get badly hurt. The Silverstone crash was just unfortunate, it was nothing serious and just part of this sport."
