ROAD TO F1: Ilott wins F2 Feature Race as Ferrari F1 juniors take podium clean sweep in Austria
Ferrari junior Callum Ilott took his first ever Formula 2 victory in dramatic circumstances at the Red Bull Ring on Saturday.
The UNI-Virtuosi racer spent the majority of the race locking horns with Renault junior Guanyu Zhou, who started on pole, and fellow Ferrari protégé Mick Schumacher, but saw both drop out of contention.
Ilott twice exchanged P1 with Zhou, before seeing his UNI-Virtuosi teammate plummet to the back of the grid with mechanical issues.

This left him in a straight battle with Schumacher for first, before the PREMA racer lost the rear at Turn 7 and went skidding off the track. The German just about managed to keep it out of the barriers, but was was out of the points with only 10 laps remaining.
With two of the front three dropping out of contention, this handed podium finishes to Ferrari juniors Marcus Armstrong and Robert Shwartzman on their F2 debuts.
Another F3 graduate, Felipe Drugovich, will start on reverse pole in Sunday’s Sprint Race at 11.10 am.
