KICK F1 Sim Racing Team’s Thomas Ronhaar came out on top during Thursday’s F1 Sim Racing World Championship action around the Circuit of The Americas.
It was Aston Martin Aramco F1 Esports Team rookie Otis Lawrence who started the final race of Event 2 on pole, pipping Ronhaar and Scuderia Ferrari HP Esports Team’s Bari Broumand in qualifying.
When the racing got under way, Lawrence and Ronhaar engaged in a thrilling wheel-to-wheel battle through Turns 1 and 2, with Ronhaar just about getting his nose ahead before the esses.
Several drivers spent phases in the lead as the 28-lap encounter developed and strategies played out – Broumand, Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing’s Frederik Rasmussen and Ronhaar at one stage going three-wide for P1.
Ronhaar ultimately emerged as the victor, though, taking the chequered flag first from Broumand and the other Red Bull of Jarno Opmeer, with Rasmussen and Lawrence completing the top five positions.
