A sausage kerb has been removed from the run-off area at Monza’s final Parabolica corner after it launched Alex Peroni’s Campos car into a high-speed crash during Saturday morning’s F3 race.
Peroni was sent airborne before landing on the barriers and hitting the catch fencing. He thankfully walked away from the dramatic accident and visited the circuit medical centre before being sent to hospital where a broken vertebra was confirmed.
The start of Formula 1 third practice was subsequently delayed by 10 minutes as the remains of the kerb were removed and the barriers and fencing repaired. Drivers have since been reminded not to exceed track limits at Turn 11, with those that do having their lap times deleted.
The Formula 3 race was completed under the safety car, with victory going to Robert Shwartzman.
