Singapore threw up a weekend to remember, from Saturday’s rain to Sunday’s incredible Grand Prix that featured strategy choices, plenty of mistakes and a fair few mechanical woes. Sergio Perez emerged from the carnage a worthy race winner to the delight of his crew, but the airwaves were full of all sorts of emotions from those finishing behind.
The cockpits were filled with questions and opinions, with the drivers completely mixed as to whether the time was right to switch from intermediate rubber to the slick tyres. George Russell was the first to make the jump, leading to some amusing exchanges with his race engineer as he slithered around the wet track.
Team mate Lewis Hamilton wasn’t faring much better after two costly errors, while Max Verstappen was also left frustrated after a messy race down the order. But at least they all finished, which was more than Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon managed, as they both retired with mechanical woes.

Zhou Guanyu wasn’t best pleased with being tipped into the wall by Nicholas Latifi, while Alex Albon’s heroic return to the cockpit was cut short when he slid into the barriers. Yuki Tsunoda also failed to see the chequered flag, but while Pierre Gasly did, he wasn’t best pleased at being overcut by many of his rivals.
