THE STRATEGIST: How Norris, Russell or even Hamilton could have won in Montreal

After every race, the strategy department of each team will devote a significant amount of time to looking at the “what if” scenarios during the race. Questions like, “What if we had stopped one lap earlier?” and “What if we had fitted a different tyre?” will be investigated as the teams try to learn something for the next event.
For Sunday’s Canadian Grand Prix, there were many alternative outcomes and most teams will complete their review process this week feeling a better result was possible. Bernie Collins, former Head of Strategy for Aston Martin, looks at how the result could have played out differently with just one or two small tweaks in tactics during the race…
