And so Max Verstappen’s inexorable rise continues, as he joins Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Juan Manuel Fangio, Alain Prost and Sebastian Vettel in the pantheon of four-time F1 world championship winners.
After a blistering start to his 2024 campaign slowed to the point where he had to wait 10 races after Spain to triumph again – and at one stage appeared to be in jeopardy as Lando Norris’ campaign at McLaren continued to gather strength – his upturn in Brazil and now his result in Las Vegas pushed him back into a safe zone from which he could not be toppled.
