Turn 1 in Austria renamed in honour of Niki Lauda

He was one of Austria’s biggest sports stars, and now the country’s Grand Prix track will permanently honour the incredible legacy of Niki Lauda.
The Red Bull Ring has announced that Turn 1 has been renamed Niki Lauda Kurve in honour of the late three-time world champion, who sadly passed away in May.
Lauda, the only Austrian to have won a Grand Prix on home soil, is the second Austrian champion to have a corner named after him in Spielberg, with Turn 9 named after the man who claimed the 1970 drivers’ crown: Jochen Rindt.
