Vandoorne fails to start in Bahrain
McLaren’s Stoffel Vandoorne saw his race end before it began on Sunday, as he was unable to take the start in the 2017 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.
Further Honda power unit problems - reportedly the same MGU-H issues that affected Vandoorne earlier in the weekend - consigned the Belgian’s car to the garage as his rivals were taking to the grid.
Vandoorne, who had been due to start 17th, scored a point on his F1 debut with McLaren in Bahrain last year, standing in for the injured Fernando Alonso.
His only finish this year was his 13th place at the season opener in Australia last month.
