The French Grand Prix has provided plenty of drama over the years – and ahead of this weekend’s action at Paul Ricard, we thought we’d dig through the archives and relive some of the more memorable moments from our time racing in France.
With the French Grand Prix having travelled to several different destinations over the years, we’ve seen moments of brilliance, such as by Alain Prost’s win at Paul Ricard in 1989, as well as anger between rivals – remember David Coulthard’s “unsporting gesture” to Michael Schumacher at the Magny-Cours race in 2000?
We’ve also witnessed a few Lap 1 incidents, such as in the 1989 French Grand Prix, which saw Mauricio Gugelmin’s car flying up into the air – while one of the most recent coming-togethers occurred in the 2018 race, with two of the French drivers taking each other out at the start.
