The Sao Paulo Grand Prix got off to a chaotic start as Nico Hulkenberg, Kevin Magnussen and Alex Albon made contact, sending the latter two drivers out of the race and ultimately causing the action to be red-flagged.

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc had failed to take the start after crashing off with a hydraulic issue on the formation lap.

But when the five lights went out, Lando Norris nailed his start from P6 on the grid to slot into second behind pole-sitter Max Verstappen, with Lewis Hamilton also jumping up from P5 to P3.

But behind, Hulkenberg found himself squeezed by team mate Magnussen and Albon, with Albon pitched into Magnussen’s Haas, wiping both cars out of the race, with the McLaren of Oscar Piastri and the AlphaTauri of Daniel Ricciardo also caught up in the melee.
