WATCH: One of F1’s most nail-biting finishes? Relive the dramatic final few laps in Singapore

The final laps of the Singapore Grand Prix left us all on the edge of our seats, as Carlos Sainz pulled over a strategic masterclass to hold off Lando Norris and the fast-charging Mercedes duo of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton to take the win.
For much of the evening, the top four had been set, with Sainz ahead of Russell, Norris, and Hamilton. That was until a late Virtual Safety Car – caused by Esteban Ocon stopping on track – was needed, with Mercedes using the halt in proceedings to strap on a new set of mediums to both of their cars.
This meant we were treated to an epic final 17 laps, with Russell and Hamilton looking to give Mercedes a one-two finish. While the pair got past Charles Leclerc with ease, they struggled to get past Sainz and Norris.
This was because Sainz pulled off an outstanding, albeit slightly risky, strategy, as he slowed down to give his former team mate Norris DRS, in a bid to give him an extra boost down the straights to defend against both Mercedes cars.
And Norris did just that, with Russell and Hamilton, who at one stage looked set to take the win, unable to get past. This gave Sainz a well-earned place on the top step of the podium, while Norris held on for second, and Hamilton took third – after Russell dramatically crashed into the barriers on the final lap.
