Max Verstappen brushed off a difficult weekend in Singapore last time out with a stellar performance to seal pole position for the Japanese Grand Prix.
The Red Bull racer has topped every session so far this weekend and took top spot in qualifying with a scintillating 1m 28.877s lap – 0.581s faster than second-placed Oscar Piastri.
With that stunning return to form for the championship leader, he will be the hot favourite for another victory in the Grand Prix itself, and could help Red Bull clinch another constructors’ title in the process tomorrow.
