Lewis Hamilton took the first-ever Formula 1 pole position in Qatar for Mercedes in a dominant display in Saturday's qualifying session at the Losail International Circuit.
The seven-time champion had appeared to struggle in practice, but was quick out of the blocks in qualifying, topping both Q1 and Q2, before the final top ten shoot-out for pole.
