Max Verstappen beat the competition to claim his first Sprint Qualifying pole position of the season at the Miami Grand Prix, edging out Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez for top spot.
After Lando Norris topped SQ3 in China, Verstappen made P1 his own this time out thanks to an impressive time of 1m 27.641s, putting him a tenth clear of Ferrari rival Leclerc and another tenth ahead of Red Bull team mate Perez.

Norris had been in the mix during SQ1 and SQ2 on the medium tyre, but the McLarens struggled when softs were mandated for the final phase, leaving RB’s Daniel Ricciardo to take a fine fourth, with the other Ferrari of Carlos Sainz in fifth.
