Max Verstappen took a surprise pole position at the Japanese Grand Prix, toppling the McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
Red Bull have so far been on the back foot compared to McLaren this season, but Verstappen was able to overcome these difficulties to go fastest by 0.012s with a 1m 26.983s.
