WATCH: See how Verstappen beat Norris to pole at the Abu Dhabi finale with our ‘Ghost Car’ feature
Max Verstappen will start the title-deciding Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from pole position after another special Qualifying display.
Max Verstappen wowed the crowds at the Yas Marina Circuit on Saturday night as he charged his way to pole position for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix ahead of title rivals Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
Verstappen trailed championship leader Norris through practice but emerged on top at the end of Qualifying thanks to a stunning final lap of 1m 22.207s, which was two-tenths quicker than the Briton’s effort.
It puts the Dutchman in the ideal position for Sunday’s showdown, which he will enter 12 points adrift of Norris, and four points clear of Piastri, who starts just behind in third.
