‘We did it!’ – Listen to Norris’s emotional team radio as he scores first-ever F1 win in Miami
Lando Norris reached a milestone moment in his F1 career on Sunday as he brilliantly charged to victory in the Miami Grand Prix, getting the better of Max Verstappen via a mid-race Safety Car.
Norris was running down in sixth in the early stages of the encounter but extended his first stint and made the most of the caution period to take on fresh tyres and emerge from the pits ahead of Verstappen.
After controlling the second stint, Norris took the chequered flag for his first win at the 110th time of asking, while also giving McLaren their first triumph since the 2021 Italian Grand Prix with Daniel Ricciardo.
As he crossed the line, the emotions came out over the team radio for the British youngster, who made up for a near-miss in Russia three years ago and began to realise just what had been achieved.
