The crashed car of Lewis Hamilton (GBR) Mercedes AMG F1 W05 who crashed in Q1 is recovered. Formula One World Championship, Rd10, German Grand Prix, Qualifying, Hockenheim, Germany, Saturday, 19 July 2014
The two companies, who have been working hand-in-hand to analyse and identify the causes of the failure, say that investigations are ongoing.
“There is currently no clear evidence of a single cause of failure and our continuing rigorous analysis will take into account multiple factors which could have contributed to the incident,” a joint statement read.
“The results of this technical analysis will be communicated as soon as they are available.”
Ahead of the race in Hockenheim, which Hamilton eventually started from P20, Mercedes replaced the Brembo-made brake discs on the Briton’s car for alternative Carbone Industrie parts as a precautionary measure.
However, Mercedes and Brembo say they remain committed to a close working relationship in the future: “Formula One is a domain of advanced development where technologies are pushed to their limits and in which strong partnerships are crucially important,” they said.
