Elton John to perform special post-race concert in Austin
Music superstar Elton John will play a spectacular post-race show on the Sunday of the 2015 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix.
Accompanied by his band, Elton John will perform the most iconic hits from his incredible five-decade career in a two-hour set on the new festival lawn on the infield of the Austin circuit.
The multiple Grammy-winning legend is one of the top-selling solo artists of all time, with 37 gold and 27 multi-platinum albums as well as 58 Billboard Top 40 singles in the United States. He has sold more than 250 million records worldwide.
In addition to announcing the Elton John & His Band concert, race organisers confirmed several other special collaborations for the visit of Formula One racing including the return of the Fan Fest, which will offer an eclectic array of activities and music in some of Austin's most popular downtown bars and venues on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
"Our goal is to create a must-attend weekend this fall in Austin, Texas, by fusing music and art with local and international sport into Austin's energetic nightlife," said Jason Dial, president and CEO of the Austin venue.
"Adding legendary superstar Elton John & His Band to an already packed race weekend at Circuit of The Americas, along with Pop Austin International Art Show, Fan Fest downtown and a University of Texas Longhorn football home game, will prove to be an epic sport and entertainment weekend."
