Jaguar boss Tony Purnell, CEO of team owner Ford's Premier Performance Division has announced a range of changes at engine suppliers Cosworth Racing, following a five-month study of the company's workings.

Tim Routsis takes over as the new Managing Director with immediate effect following the departure of Brendan Connor, who has left the company to pursue other interests, while Nick Hayes becomes Technical Director.

Routsis will take the helm of a new management structure, which will see the current two-MD system dismantled. According to Cosworth, he has been asked to undertake the role because he has the ability and experience to handle both engineering and commercial issues.

Commenting on the changes, Purnell said: "Cosworth Racing is a stronger Company today because of Brendan's direction and effort over the last two years. Many of his initiatives are to be admired and have made the company notably more efficient than when he started."

The new management team at Cosworth will also feature some new faces, including Dr Adrian Chambers, who will join immediately as the new Head of Manufacturing. Chambers comes from Jaguar Racing, where he has only been in post a few months, but prior to this he worked at Rolls-Royce aero engines.
