Japanese driver Satoshi Motoyama will test for Renault at Jerez this week, the team announced on Monday. It follows his recent triumph in the Japanese GT Championship for Renault's sister company Nissan.

Motoyama, also the reigning Formula Nippon Champion, got his first taste of Formula One earlier this year when he drove for Jordan in the Friday morning test session at his home Grand Prix at Suzuka.

"After winning the GT championship for Nissan this year, it will be fun finding out what a race-winning Renault is like," the 32-year-old told Renault's official web site. "I want to do a professional job for the team and learn from the experience in a competitive car."

Motoyama's test will be split over two days. He is scheduled to run on the afternoon of December 9 (Tuesday) and the morning of December 10 (Wednesday).
