Rain threatens to delay start of race 06 Apr 2003
Torrential rain at Interlagos has disrupted the preparations for the Brazilian Grand Prix, leading to the cancellation of the drivers' parade lap. Race officials will shortly announce whether the start of the race itself will be delayed.
Heavy rain has partially flooded the press room in Brazil, leading to fears that coverage of the race might be disrupted. Although the weather has since eased, there are still concerns over the amount of water on the track. Storms also disrupted the first qualifying session on Friday.
Both Bridgestone and Michelin have only brought shallow grooved 'intermediate' tyres to Brazil, under the terms of an agreement to limit the number of types of tyre taken to each race.
It is currently raining heavily on the grid, and the race will be starting behind the safety car.
