Button to sit out testing 04 Jun 2003
BAR driver Jenson Button will not participate in testing this week, the team announced on Wednesday.
Button had been due to run at Monza on Thursday, but following his practice crash at Monaco, the team has decided to instead let him focus on regaining full fitness ahead of the next race of the season on June 15.
"Button has recovered well following his accident," said BAR in a statement. "He has now resumed his usual training programme in preparation for the forthcoming Canadian Grand Prix.
"Jenson was given a full examination by the FIA's Medical Delegate, Professor Sid Watkins, yesterday and it was considered more prudent for him to sit out his scheduled one-day test in order for him to concentrate on being fully fit to compete in Montreal."
Though suffering nothing worse than nausea following his accident last Saturday, Button was kept in hospital overnight in Monaco and on Sunday morning the team decided to withdraw him from the race.
