BAR block Davidsons Williams test 24 Nov 2004
Anthony Davidsons planned test with Williams looks unlikely to go ahead after BAR said they are not prepared to release him for the Jerez session, which was due to take place next week.
According to BAR, the team had originally consented to the test as part of an agreement whereby Davidson could drive for Williams in 2005, with BAR keeping a conditional option on his services for the following season.
However, BAR technical director Geoff Willis told the media on Wednesday that Williams have insisted on an unconditional arrangement which, unfortunately, is untenable for the team.
Davidson, who is under a long-term contract with BAR, has displayed impressive form throughout the 2004 season as the teams third driver. Along with Nick Heidfeld and Antonio Pizzonia, he was one of three drivers due to test for Williams in their search for a 2005 team mate for Mark Webber. Williams have not yet commented on BARs decision.
